Dear Eckhart Teachings,
.
I want to share with you the “fruits” of your teachings, which I [apparently I] have been following since 1999.
.
Yesterday I heard news in the mid-afternoon that the financial market was melting down, and very bad times are indeed ahead (the media’s interpretation.) I was at work at my desk – I work for a self-help organization called The Sedona Method, which disseminates spiritual teachings, much like your organization does. When I heard the news, I walked over to my general manager’s desk, and said, “I feel like I may have a meltdown. Read the rest of this entry »

I had tried everything to change the patterns and the issues that kept coming up in my life.  I tried different therapies and even read The Power of Now, which soon became my “Bible”.  I had my favorite pages marked and it looked like a much loved book.  Read the rest of this entry »

I realize that I have been addicted to everything. I feel like my ego is very smart and tricky, and can change its obsession and addiction at any time.  I have gone from being addicted to people, work, situations, food, feelings, to power etc.  After reading and learning about the present moment, my life has slowed down a lot. I had always considered myself a self-help “junkie.”  One day, while in a major department store bookshop I discovered The Power of Now.  The words hit me with clarity and deep inner knowing that I had not felt before. The Power of Now became a journey and in the most powerful way led me to read less and less and just be more and more. Read the rest of this entry »

There is no great drama in my story.  I’m just another modern person whose life seemed to lack meaning.  As Tolle says, I lived in thoughts of the past and daydreams of the future. Now I’m vibrantly alive and fully living each day no matter what’s going on in my life situation. Read the rest of this entry »

I was born in Cologne, Germany, six months after Hitler came to power.  My family, because they were Jewish, though not religious Jews, fled Germany, a country they loved and always missed.  I was raised by an unhappy mother and father and did not do well in the second-rate schools I attended. .

Eight years ago, my friend Meg Ryan told me about The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle. It’s one of the most transformative books I’ve ever read; I keep a copy with me wherever I go, flipping through its highlighted pages time and time again. For anyone seeking to lead a more connected, vibrant life, The Power of Now is essential reading, and Eckhart’s follow-up books—Stillness Speaks and A New Earth—explain the core principle that has resonated so deeply with me and thousands of others: The only moment we ever really have is this one. Happiness isn’t in the future or the past, but in mindful awareness of the present. Read the rest of this entry »

How can we ever be out of alignment with what is?

October 8th, 2008 by Eckhart Tolle

Dear Eckhart,
.
You often use phrases such as “true alignment with life” and “inner alignment with what is”. How can we ever be out of alignment with what is?  Surely what is is WHAT IS and must include confusion, resistance and non surrender to the present moment. Read the rest of this entry »

Do you feel that your will and the will of God is the same?

October 8th, 2008 by Eckhart Tolle

Dear Eckhart,
.
Do people really have the ability to choose? As an enlightened being, do you feel that your will and the will of God is the same? I worry that I will become like the Borg on Star Trek, just part of one collective. Thanks for your time, Eckhart.  “laughter” Read the rest of this entry »
